Pre viz

i have been working on my pre viz in small chunks then i assembled it together and it has taken a few days to animate.

I skipped the walk cycles due to time constraints but the basic movement is there. Also i realize that its a little dark at certain angles i didn't realise until after i rendered i couldn't re-render due to time.

Animatic

i put the storyboard into a sequence in premiere so hopefully now i have the right timings for my pre-viz.

i believe now that we have been taught how to make a basic rig i'll be able to animate most of this basicly.

storyboard of selected scene

due to talking with the group i feel that the bus stop section even though it may be plausible to make funny, i should remove it due to the chess scene at them end is the build up point. but to fill that time i thought i'll bulk up the begining slightly here is the storyboard.

overall story via thumbnails

i quickly doodled down that basic story into a series of thumbnails hoping to make the story a bit more solid, i hit a point though where since i have not thought of what to do at the bus stop after the bus drives off it quickly skips to where the corpse is at the museum.

due to inability to find decent hosting site here is link to it on deviantart.

idea to go with

i have gone with my first idea due to a chat about the ideas and many people believed that my first idea was the more suitable one to do.

here are some research pictures:

there isn't much else to research for this and since this is going to be slightly cartoony it doesn't have to have too much detail.

ideas formed

i have formed 4 ideas for my story that works with the 3 objects i received from the bag.

idea 1: the postcard is sent to the graveyard in some way and put next to a gravestone, then a corpse comes out of the ground and reads the card. next the corpse goes to a bus stop to get a bus to a museum and some little gags ensue. when he gets to the museum he meets up with his mummy friend. they then go and play chess, after some time he loses and smacks both hands on the table and then his head falls off and smacks the table, end.

idea 2: the corpse can be a ressurected by some means former cop who then goes out for revenge and to save the world from the villain that killed him in the first place. in order to stop him he would ineed to get hold of some vital data this comes in the form of microfilm hidden inside a postcard he gets by some means (not worked that out yet). possible game idea, maybe not so good to use for this project.

idea 3: the scene is that of the museum at night and you see a dark figure creeping around, this dark figure is that of a burgular hoping to steal an artifact from a mummy's tomb. when he gets to the tomb he unlocks the security on it and opens it. he grabs the artifact but cannt remove it from the mummy's grasp he struggles and struggles until he ends up on top of the mummy trying to take it. he pulls the artifact hard and ends up pulling the mummy towards him at the same time, this scares him and he flies backwards into an open sarcophegus at the same time knocking over a stand full of postcards. the sarcophegus seals him in and one of the cards falls to the floor in front with topside up with a picture of the sarcophegus and the text wish you were here. end.

idea 4: the scene opens on a funeral pressecion as the coffin is being taken down to the hearse to go to the graveyard, a small gust occurs and a postcard slaps one of the coffin bearers causing him to let go of his side. and the coffin falls and opens causing the corpse to fly out down the hill. then the coprse goes through multiple happenings (i have no idea what they are), then ends up by the end in a meuseum next to a sarcophegus.
