Found the images and made a few more

I managed to locate all the images i had done in the character design lessons and scanned them in, except for the ones drawn in blue i had to take photos of them. (i forgot scanners find blue hard to read)

I also drew up some more and thought a bit more on the story.

first are some of the drawings unrelated to the main project.

The last two on the scientist images are redraws of my original design done by Zack Moat (http://wakkamole.blogspot.com/).

Next are the ones from the main project.

The Villain: Hydran

I designed the hands and feet then i decided to redesign the cloak to be a bit more sharper and torn, i do admit though that i believe the proportions are a bit off.

The villain's sidekick: ??? (name still unknown)

The snake i'm having second thoughts about for a decent character that will fit in with the whole aesthetic of the idea now.

The hero: ??? (name still unknown)

My drawing ability and design of the hero has improved with each step the last of the images i shall explain after the next image.

The hero's sidekick: The Golden Fleece

I was thinking more along the lines with this sidekick, the golden fleece is an important plot device and is an alternative to the hero having a generic curse. After obtaining the fleece from the forest without alerting the dragon, the fleece reveals its personality, a talkative slightly cowardly being that is able if worn as a mask to tranform the wearer into a minotaur of tremendous strength, hence the new drawing of the hero.

Hi Nathan,

good to see some sketches at last. I like the fleece as a character idea. I think it needs to be more than a talking fleece - you may want to try and bring this to life with the the body language (ie the fleece could move around like someone in a sleeping bag etc). Ii is also looking a little too evil, so you may want to work on that.

When the hero dons the fleece, he also looks eveil - i think its the angular lines and the fact that his face is completely engulfed by the mask. You could get around this by having it rest on top of his head, rather cover it up completely. I think if the horns were more sheep/ram like and curlier, it would make him look less like a demon. Possible the skull would look more like a helmet, than a mask?

For the villain, i would definitely start thinking about what he looks like under the mask - the cloak will then follow his shapes. Does he need to be so human shapes, or can you give him more of a dragon/lizard type body?
I think the sharp elements you have used on the villain design are definitely on the right track however.

Good stuff - keep refining these!
